Mitchell is a prior United States Marine who spent much of his military career as a Weapons Systems Officer flying F-18 fighter jets. He has traveled to over a dozen countries around the world and has been on combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. He has worked as a forward air controller for a Marine reconnaissance battalion and as an operations officer for a Marine Raider support battalion.
