At the age of eight, she told her dad, author Jason Smithers, that she wanted to write and illustrate a book. Her parents explained to her that if she did every single part of the process (storyboarding, writing, illustrating, page layout, choosing fonts, etc.), then they would guide her through the process. She finished the process in 3-4 months with her first picture book titled Maci and Addie's Fairy Adventure, followed by her second picture book The Portal.
During 2020, a very difficult year for most kids, at the age of ten, Maci channeled her creative energy into finishing this book Ally Lancaster & The Enchanted Fortress, her third book, and first novella.vizualizați mai puține
