They have three adult children and five grandchildren. He retired after a 30+ year career in various forms of law enforcement. He has served as Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem, for the City of Port Huron. He has also served as Vice President for a charter school for troubled youth, a board member for a Christian counseling center, and various other boards, both Christian and community based. He is presently serving as a board member of a non-profit halfway house for criminal offenders. He has been engaged over the years in a variety of ministries, including, seven years doing jail ministry.
