She was raised in Fairmount Heights, Maryland where she attended school. Her parents pastored a church there which helped her spiritual development. She completed her bachelor's degree in sociology at the University of Maryland. She worked for 35 years as a social worker, volunteering in churches and community organizations. Ms. Bethea still resides in Maryland and attends Highway Christian Church, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Her latest endeavor was the completion of a Christian Discipleship Program at a community church. is book is the first publication although many literary works have been distributed and presented in the community.
