His poems are not about romance but about our chaotic world. These verses will challenge the reader to realize that poetry offers us a different way to examine the world. Ruben Gonzalez finds his inspiration in everyday events but his poems always have a twist. He has studied the poetry of Nicanor Parra and the work of this Antipoet motivated Ruben to use a genre of poetry which makes the reader laugh and enjoy the sarcasm. Today, Dr. Gonzalez teaches languages and literature at Alabama State University.
