He is a retired anesthesiologist and amateur historian with a particular interest in Abraham Lincoln after being shocked by his visit to the killing fields of Gettysburg. He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Mary Anne, and a blended family of seven children and nineteen grandchildren.
