In the early 1950’s the Korean War began and I joined the Navy. Was assigned to a destroyer the USS Shelton DD790. Served four years half over in Korea. A few years after the coming home John Kennedy wanted to go to the moon and back. Boeing was looking for men to work on the Saturn V so I applied and was accepted. I worked at Michoud, La. On the Boeing SIC main boosted, in the fin and fairing group. After two and a half years plus hurricane Betsy it started to phase out, heard Boeing opened a new branch at the Kennedy space center in Florida. Put in a transfer and was accepted. Worked in “system interface control” all systems of the Saturn V, mobile launcher, mobile service structure and launch pad 39A, after the first and only launch of the un-manned Saturn V, left Boeing and came home. Worked as a Mechanical Designer, and later at Mid-America Engineers, downtown Chicago as a Material Handling Engineer.vizualizați mai puține
