She also taught at Lady Shri Ram College for twenty years. During this time she won the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship to study social and developmental psychology at Oxford University in the UK. After completing a doctorate at Oxford, she returned to India and practiced as a clinical psychologist for a number of years. At the time she took a qualification in transactional analysis. Now living in Britain, she is an accredited cognitive behaviour therapist and a chartered counselling psychologist. Till recently she was an associate professor at London South Bank University where she taught cognitive behavioural therapy to postgraduate students.
