He currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Academic Services & Assessment at a University in North Carolina. He enjoys reading, writing, singing and playing electric guitar.
Derick has been a Bible believing Christian for most of his life. Though like many children that grew up in the church, he has had years where he strayed away from God a bit, however, he never went too far away. He tells of a story about how when he was around 8 years old he asked his mom " How does Jesus' Blood wash us and it's been 2000 years later and how does He live inside of us?" She told him, "I don't know son...you probably need to ask God that." He took her literally and now, years later, those answers he received from God have become a book that answers much
more than his simple childhood Christian curiosities.
Derick has a deep appreciation for the traditions of the Church and this book is a testament to that but much more so, this book is a testament to his love for the Word of God. The book he has written honors the Biblical doctrines of the church and adds clarity to many underlying Biblical truths and ideas not discussed much in Christian arenas.
In writing this book, his interests in Superheroes, adventure stories like Indiana Jones and thrillers like the Borne Identity and the Matrix suddenly collided with his Bible study on the Blood of Jesus and It's place in the life of the practical Christian. Along with CSI type television shows and our culture's perennial yet recent surge of interest in Vampire lore with the Twilight movie trilogy as examples...a strange confluence of information was beginning to occur...especially as it concerned BLOOD...
An epiphany occurred when he saw a CSI episode where blood, through it's chemical luminescence, led to the truth of where a victim was as well as to the perpetrator of the crime. LIGHT had led to TRUTH! His mind recalled to the book of Genesis, Chapter 4:10 in the Bible where in the murder of Cain and Abel, Abel's blood also led God, THE FIRST Crime Scene Investigator, to the TRUTH of the crime when He mentions to Cain, " Your brother (Abel's) blood cries out to me from the ground." Blood had been a witness. He then remembered that there was a scripture where St. John had stated...
1 John 5:6 KJV
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness , because the Spirit is truth.
Then in Leviticus 17:11 where it says the "Life of the flesh is in the Blood," the word "life" means "Ghost" in Hebrews...
His hypothesis: The Holy Ghost ( or the Holy Spirit) is the Blood of Jesus...that is how we are washed...He was "poured out" on us in a dimensional way...
Hmmm...
You'll have to read the book to get more but YOU'LL BE AMAZED at where this investigation leads...
P.S....wait until you discover what the word "dove," the representative for the Holy Ghost in the Gospels, means...in chapter 10...vizualizați mai puține
