After a year of cognitive treatment at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, Jerry enrolled at New York University and in 2004 earned a master’s degree in social work. During this period, Jerry was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and later with B-cell non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He is currently in stage three of the disease as a ten-year survivor, but has undergone repeated hospitalizations, surgeries, radiation, seeding, chemotherapy, cognitive therapy, physical rehabilitation, and pharmacological therapy for pain.
