I grew up in Germany and moved to South Africa in 1995. In 1998 while working on a Koi farm, I accidently (or so I thought) stumbled upon the subject of worm farming.We initially raised worms as a high protein food for our Koi fish but as I researched the subject of worm farming (vermiculture), I became totally fascinated by these wriggly creatures and decided to start my own worm farm and promote worm composting.In 1999 I started one of the pioneering worm farming companies in South Africa - Global Worming. I initially started with just 1000 composting worms, which have now been multiplied into millions.Countless households and businesses have purchased worms, worm farms, worm castings and worm tea from us.We made a video about the basics of worm farming for the city of Cape Town that can be viewed on our homepage at www.globalworming.co.za and have given seminars about worm composting on behalf of the Botanical Society of South Africa and the Department of Environmental Affairs of the City of Cape Town.I believe that the potential of earthworm farming has only just begun to be recognized. In the years ahead, many people around the world will see the huge benefits of worm farming and will implement it.The low start up costs are especially practical for poorer and disadvantaged communities where there are already some pioneers who use compost worms to recycle their organic waste into nutrient rich worm castings. Worms, worm tea and worm castings can be used to grow nutritious fruit and vegetables in pots, containers, backyards or wherever there is available space.The worm industry although already a multimillion Dollar/Euro industry, has plenty of room to grow and will be able to support various sizes of worm farming businesses all over the world.I wish you all the success you are hoping for!YoursStephan Kloppertvizualizați mai puține
