I have written poems since I was a child; however, the day after I won my first prize and had a poem published, I turned my gift back to Jesus. I told Him I had won the worldly fame I desired, and if I never wrote another poem, it was okay, because He was in charge of any future poems.
What happened was I became a willing writing instrument for Jesus, writing poems that when I looked back over them, I could not believe that I had written these poems. Many times they brought tears to my eyes. I believe that He has given me a gift that I cannot keep to myself any longer.
