He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Alberta, Canada. He was also awarded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship. His research is focused on process intensification in polymerization and nanomaterial synthesis, and water treatment techniques. Prof. Gumfekar serves as an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and a Guest Editor of Processes.
