Any title with "Star" in it always got his attention. In 2007, after seeing a Hubble Telescope picture of a binary star system with a nova and white dwarf, he imagined living on a planet orbiting the dying sun. This thought became the foundation for "The Shadow Universe" series. Fifteen years later, he finished a fantastic story spanning twenty years.
