In 2004, he was placed with a federal antiterrorism unit, and was later deployed in Europe and the Middle East. A close-protection specialist, he served on the protection details of Queen Elizabeth II, Barack Obama, and Hu Jintao. Gervais lives in Ottawa with his wife and two children.
