The real heroes of her fiction are often the women -- strong, spirited, capable women, but women who are faithful to their time and situation. Historical accuracy is the keystone of her work. Bonner's writing career includes five literary novels, numerous short stories and book reviews. Her first novel, LILY, was a finalist for the Western Writers of America's Pipe Bearer's Award. Her novels have been listed as "Best Books" by the American Library Association and have been translated into Spanish and German. Her fourth novel, RIGHT FROM WRONG, won the PEN Texas Award.
