She is a mental health and gerontological nurse who works with research teams and service providers on health and social care for older people and their families. Her research and practice emphasize improving dementia care services as well as improving gerontology and geriatrics education in the health professions. She is a past president of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association. She is coauthor of Ebersole and Hess’ Gerontological Nursing and Healthy Aging (First and Second Canadian Editions) and co-editor of Evidence-Informed Approaches for Managing Dementia Transitions: Riding the
