Born on August 31, 1877 in Cambridge, England, General Temperley received numerous awards for his services, including Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (CB); Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG); Distinguished Service Order for service in France and Flanders; Queen’s South Africa Medal (Cape Colony, Orange free State. Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902); India General Service Medal 1908 (North West Frontier 1908); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal; Victory Medal; and Silver Jubilee Medal 1935. He died on April 7, 1940 in England, aged 62.
ROBERT ANTHONY EDEN, 1st Earl of Avon, KG, MC, PC (1897-1977) was a British Conservative politician. He became Foreign Secretary at age 38, a position he held for most of the Second World War, as well as in the early 1950s.
