Megumi was born in Izumo, Japan and moved to Hawaii at Manoa in 2001. She received her Master of Science degree in Kineasology from the University of Hawaii in 2008. Stephen moved to Hawaii at Manoa in 1988 and is currently Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the University of Hawaii. For this article Megumi wrote the narrative and Steve took the photos.
